A Spiritual Drink

A drink of water for a child
shall surely be rewarded,
if as unto the Lord Himself,
your deed has been regarded.

The water that you give to him
just now will be refreshing;
e’er long he’ll have to drink again—
’tis but a present blessing.

But is there not within your heart
more than a cup of water?
And is that not the greatest need
of every son and daughter?

Did not our Lord say He would give
to those who come believing,
a mighty spring of sweeter flow,
the thirst of soul relieving?

So while the water from the well
with him, a friend, you’re sharing,
do give to him the better drink,
his needy soul repairing.

Your deed, your words, will be to him
a pause that truly pleases,
if with the water from the well,
you speak to him of Jesus.

Consecration

by Frank P. Nickel

Lord, I want to qualify
for your “Well done!” when I die,
letting others see that I
LOVE the living Christ!

Let me always prove I’m true,
filled with grace and knowledge, too,
so by what I say and do,
SHOW the living Christ!

Let me shun the praise of man,
keeping low—by grace I can—
walking humbly by Your plan,
PRAISE the living Christ!

Not for earthly gain or ease,
or to sail the seven seas,
but by conquest on my knees,
CROWN the living Christ!

Oh, for pow’r to win the lost,
win them now whate’er the cost,
watching, praying at my post,
SERVE the living Christ!

May I not procrastinate
and in witnessing be late,
but with souls of dreadful fate
SHARE the living Christ!

He’s the lamb, He came to save,
willingly His life He gave,
rose in triumph from the grave,
HE’S THE LIVING CHRIST!

Co-Laborers With God

Co-laborers with God!
O, friend, why should it be
that God would need our help
to save and make man free?
He says we have no strength
to make one black hair white;
we’ll change, perhaps our weight,
but can’t control our height.

Co-laborers with God!
Some cases seem so hard—
“impossible” is the word,
where souls by sin are marred.
Our own—a case in point,
the habits which we make
a bit of fun perhaps,
but oh, how hard to break!

Co-laborers with God!
He needs us every hour
as vessels for His grace,
as channels for His power;
the word of life to share,
and prayers on land and sea;
God cannot win the lost
without us—you and me!
