All the Way My Savior Leads Me
Words by Fanny J. Crosby, Music by Robert Lowry, 1875

All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.
All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.
All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

True Faith
True faith is more than make-believe,
or what we want to feel.
The issue is too grave to clutch
what’s fiction and not real.
It takes a living Christ to speak
sweet comfort to the heart.
If we’re not sure He rose again
we’re following Satan’s art.
And that means consternation
in the final hour of death;
but living faith builds confidence
and praise with our last breath.
“By grace, through faith,” the Bible says,
in God’s eternal Son.
To know His resurrection power
spells peace when day is done.

In Time of Trial
My tears have been my food day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
"Where is your God?" Psalm 42:3
“Where is now thy God?”1
Why must there be this test,
when I have really tried
to give my very best?
Oh, God, I do not ask
for myself, “Are you real?”
whenever things go wrong
or because of how I feel.
But there are those who taunt
as though I have no God,
while day and night I grieve
and tears fall on the sod.
Our Savior, too, was tried;
the ridicule was gross;
“If God will have you now,
come down from off the cross!”2
But little did they know
that only three short days
would change the entire scene,
resulting in God’s praise!
No, I will not despair,
though bleak and dark the hour;
by faith I’ll reach ahead
for resurrection power.
The testing of my faith
I know is not for long;
and as I learn to trust,
God fills my heart with song.

Give Me Time!
Re-post from Feb. 4, 2015
Panic is a tool of Satan,
he employs with great success.
It has led to many a stampede,
and a sad fate, without redress.
It may begin with just one person,
but may soon involve a crowd.
And all semblance of logic
vanishes, mid warnings loud.
God has power to solve all problems
if we'll give Him ample time.
Causes lost, as we may view them,
can be saved—bring joys sublime.
God our refuge and deliverer,
cognizant of those down-trod,
calls to us, in accents tender:
"Just be still—know I am God!"
"Give me time—you need not panic;
trust me, I am in control.
You by faith may claim, dear pilgrim,
peace of mind and rest of soul!"

Faith Which Works by Love
Let theologians wrangle
and lay the scriptures bare;
revealing by their logic
that they can split a hair.
But I’ve one deep desire:
to please my Lord above
and demonstrate by practice
a faith which works by love.
Yes, I’m aware, my brother,
that ignorance is not bliss;
but “knowledge puffeth up” and thus
much truth we’re bound to miss.
And I am sadly burdened
in what I read and see,
how God’s own flock is scattered
by men of high degree.
I’m not against the scholars
who dig into God’s word,
but let them be reminded
how God is truly heard.
He never shares a secret
with those He cannot trust;
however intellectual,
humility’s a must!
So, when a man is learned
and owns revered degrees,
God often lets him stumble
for failure of his knees
to bow in deep abandon
and ask for truth concealed;
for God is not discovered,
He only is revealed.
New books are being written
for grown-ups and for youth;
though ever so persuasive,
some do pervert the truth.
Just like a little poison,
in the most wholesome food,
results in fatal damage;
corrupting what is good.
Now here’s a word of comfort
Christ gave to you and me:
It’s “Ye shall know the truth
and the truth shall make you free.”
He clearly thanked the Father
for all those rich in faith,
though poor in means and spirit,
accepting what God says!
Shall men of cloth and standing
force God into a mold?
Can laboratory testing
the mind of God unfold?
Christ said that He would send us
His Spirit from above.
If we’ll submit, He’ll teach us
the faith which works by love!

My Heavenly Perspective
There are some who criticize.
Oh, yes, they say that I
am sporting a philosophy
of pie up in the sky.
They say that I don’t care enough
about the here and now.
They say I’m square and I don’t fit
when they have their powwow.
Well, I’ve got heaven on my mind.
By faith, I’m going there.
How great it is to think about
that world beyond compare.
I just can’t feel at home down here,
there’s sorrow everywhere.
Content with less than heaven? No thanks!
I’ve staked my claim up there.

The Dignity of Life
The Dignity of Life
The dignity of life can raise
our hope to heights sublime;
the sense of charge with sacred trust
will motivate through time.
The humdrum and the commonplace
become adventuresome;
when God constrains us by His love
exciting days must come.
Why am I here? Why was I born?
—Not merely happenstance;
I’m not an afterthought with God;
My life he would enhance.
A miracle, I must concede,
my spirit, body, soul—
with vast potential, good or bad—
can drift, or reach a goal.
The only way to ascertain
the plan God has for me
is that I daily walk with Him;
what He reveals, I’ll see.
Not burdened with tomorrow’s care
I’ve ample strength today;
I’ll plan ahead, but more than that,
I’ll listen as I pray.
God manages the universe,
this world and all its strife.
When he endows us with his grace,
there’s dignity of life!

The Hope of Rising Again
The Hope of Rising Again
John 14:19
The hope of rising again
gives meaning and purpose to life;
for sorrow and heartache untold
are widespread in this world of strife.
Life seems like a tunnel at times;
it appears we will never get out.
We’re depressed—our hearts fill with fear;
it’s hard not to worry or doubt.
The one thought that helps us endure
is knowing that this too shall pass;
but that’s not enough—we need hope
that a new day will soon dawn at last.
There is no denying that death
now poses an unwelcome fate;
so final—and mysteries abound
past the veil of our present estate.
True facts about what lies ahead
are discovered alone in God’s word;
yet many prefer in its stead
speculation so wild and absurd.
This life is much more than a game;
there are destinies we will achieve,
and there need be no losers at all—
the condition is that we believe.
By faith, we can claim for ourselves
a future of glory and peace;
Christ lives and yes, “we too shall live”
in His kingdom which never shall cease.

The Gem of My Heart
Bless the Lord, I have found you, the gem of my heart
to cherish and hold you till death do us part.
Bless the Lord for His providence year after year
keeping each for the other, how precious, my dear.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul for this wonderful day.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul that He sent you my way.
Bless the Lord, who in wonderful grace did impart
such a precious companion, the gem of my heart.
Bless the Lord for your hand and the light in your eyes,
life's testing and toil shall but strengthen our ties.
With Christ as our captain, united we'll stand,
through joys and temptations, we'll go hand in hand.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul for this wonderful day.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul that He sent you my way.
Bless the Lord, who in wonderful grace did impart
such a precious companion, the gem of my heart.

A Child-Like Faith
Oh, Lord, I want a child-like faith
the kind you said to show
for entrance to that kingdom fair
and saving grace to know.
A faith that makes me small enough
to take with gratitude
just everything you’d like to send
to keep my hope renewed.
A faith, oh Lord, a childlike faith
which humbly will receive.
Yet, in the hour of greatest need,
is mighty to believe.
Oh, give me Lord, a childlike faith
which never minds the crowd
nor caters to this world of sin,
so arrogant and proud.
A faith that sees my blessed Lord
who died on Calvary
and as I find myself condemned
cries out, “Remember me.”
